Frequently Asked Questions
What style of martial arts do you teach?
We train in Ziranmen Kung Fu. For forms training, we train various forms from Shaolin Six Harmonies (Liu He), Liu He Tang Lang (Mantis), and 64 Hands (also known as linear Ba Gua). We work on various concepts from Chinese boxing and Silat applications for combat training. For more information, please have a look at our 'Arts' section.
Do I need prior experience to join?
No! Our sessions are beginner-friendly. We don't have terms/intakes. You are welcome to join whenever it suits you.
Is there a trial period or an introductory class?
Yes, your first two sessions are free without any obligation. Please give us a heads-up when you intend to attend the session.
What age groups do you cater to?
Our sessions are suitable for a wide range of age groups. People from 14+ are attending our sessions regularly. People under 18 are encouraged to have their guardians present during the training session. At the moment, we do not run classes for kids.
What should I wear or bring to a class?
Please wear flat and soft sole shoes such as sneakers and loose comfortable attire such as gym or yoga wear. Please remove any jewelry, accessories, or piercings before class.

Classes are held every Tuesday (7.00 - 8.30 pm) and Saturday (10.30 am - 12.00 pm).
What are the fees or membership costs?
Our current fees are one session per week = $100 per calendar month and two sessions per week = $150 per calendar month. There are no contracts or lock-in terms.
Are there different levels or classes for beginners and advanced students?
For the form training and applications, yes, there are different sets of routines for beginners and advanced students. But for warm-up, conditioning, and drills, no. We believe that mastering basic sets of movements is critical to achieving higher levels. Some say - basics are advanced, and advanced is basics done right.
What emphasis does the club place on fitness vs. self-defense or tradition?
We place great importance on the overall development of our students, with a focus on achieving balance in all aspects of their lives. While physical fitness is a priority, we also place equal value on self-defense skills and upholding traditional martial arts principles. Our teaching approach seamlessly integrates these elements to ensure that our students become well-rounded practitioners who excel in both physical prowess and mental discipline.
Are there belt or ranking systems, and how do they work?
We don't have belts or ranking systems. Many Kung Fu and Silat schools do not follow a belt system. These systems are usually taught within a family or community setting where both masters and students focus on personal growth and continuous learning. We value martial arts as a lifelong journey of applying martial skills to enhance daily life. Our community is based on collective learning, mentorship, and the transmission of knowledge within a familiar setting. This allows each student to progress at their own pace while contributing to the group's collective growth.
How do you ensure safety during training?
Ensuring safety is our foremost priority. We are committed to safeguarding everyone by addressing both physical and psychological aspects. Our measures include the use of protective pads and safe training equipment while ensuring a clear understanding of our safety protocols. Our approach is friendly yet professional, and we maintain strict adherence to safety standards throughout all training sessions.
Are there additional activities or workshops offered outside regular classes?
Yes, we regularly catch up outside our classes to attend various martial arts seminars, meet other like-minded martial artists and enjoy some social activities.
